8 months old and almost crawling...

Jrew turned 8 months old last week!  Unbelievable... he is growing up so quickly. I can't say enough about him, I love him sooo much. I think having a child teaches you more about love than you ever thought you knew. He is amazing. Here is a run-down on my baby so far.

1. He is on the verge of crawling any day now. He rocks back and forth on his knees all the time. He's like addicted to it... he is constantly trying to get out of your arms so he can try it again.

2. He is saying "da-da" indiscriminately. Which means he doesn't really say "dada" to Thomas but is babbling those sounds!

3. He is eating ground chicken! Woo-hoo. Getting closer to "normal" people food.

4. Can eat graham crackers, Ritz crackers, saltine crackers, bananas in chunks, pancakes torn into pieces, and loves juice!!!

5. He is now known as the baby who kissed another baby in daycare and made the other baby cry. :) My sweetheart.

6. He is pulling up occasionally to play with his baby grand piano. I'm so proud.

7. Has made us the happiest parents in the world!

8. Didn't pose for any of these pictures, but my friend Chrissy is just really good behind the camera!!!

Destined for Fame

One of Jrew's teacher's took this video with her phone and sent it to me yesterday! What a sweet surprise while I was stuck in the middle of Progress Reports. Notice, that he is holding a tambourine and that he picks up a shaker. Listen carefully to his rhythm... definitely a genius.

A modern day parable: Has anyone seen my contact?

Okay. Quick... a freaky story that delayed our trip to Arkansas by at least an hour and a half!!! I have been wearing contacts for close to 15 years now and I have NEVER had this happen. I am sure at this point in the story you are thinking "Why is she blogging about a lost contact. We don't care about a lost contact."
Because, friends, I lost my contact in my eye! Behind my eyelid.... and it hurt! Thomas pulled over to a gas station where I tried in vain to remove the contact by flushing it with saline solution (bad idea) and rubbing on my eye with my fingers (also a bad idea). So, as I am standing next to the car frantic and crying b/c my eye was burning and Thomas is standing in front of me trying to coach and look up "what to do" on his iPhone, an Ambulance pulls up behind Thomas to get gas. I was able to retrieve like half of the contact - yes, it tore in half. A few minutes later I said "An EMS just pulled up" and Thomas said "Stop it." only to find out it was true.
It's a good thing we didn't have to pay that EMS driver for his advice (Although it did prove helpful). The solution: No one could help me... I would have to either keep flushing it with saline solution or wait until it found its way back down. UGH... The EMS guy gave me a glove and gauze and told me to stop touching my eye with my own fingers and not to rub b/c I could scratch my cornea. With that, he went back to pumping gas.
Thomas, finally, suggested that I go to the restroom and just flush my eye with water non-stop (info he found on his iPhone), so I did. MUCH BETTER TAHN THE SALINE SOLUTION - what was I thinking? Water didn't burn as much and felt refreshing. So, after only a few more minutes for water flushing - I was able to pull the other half out of my eye!!!!!
Moral of the story is: What once was lost, now is found. I was almost blind.. but now I see.

New Discoveries and Such

I know every mom thinks their kid is advanced... but mine really is. :) Here is what he is doing now, all (except sitting up - which is old news) of it in just the last two weeks!!! :)

1. Jrew will roll over onto his stomach in the crib and even moves when he's sleeping. (Ok - moving while you're sleeping is old news too and does not indicate an extraordinarily high IQ) BUT, he rolls all night long. He just rolls over from back to front like he's a professional and acts like he could care less about it during the day.

2. Jrew is waving hello!!!! He started with a wave of the arm and just within the last few days he has started twisting his hand to wave. :) Soooo cute.

3. He loves the piano!! I used to hold him when he was tiny and play with my right hand. Then I started sitting him up between my arms while I played. Two weeks ago, he started hopping on my lap when I played and would "leap" toward the keys! He put his hands on the keys but didn't know how to press them down. ONE WEEK AGO - he got it! He started slapping his hands down and realized he could make noise! HE loves it and so now I am (of course) in search for a baby/kid piano. Schoenhut makes them and one of them is approved for babies 6 months and up!!! :) Ok... if I can just find a really nice one that is used. :)

4. Jrew likes Graham Crackers!! Fun... and easy to keep some in the diaper bag at all times! :)

5. Jrew had to move up to Stage 2 on his Jumperoo!!! It was way too short for him and now he is just as happy as a little monkey.

That is all... Good night.

A Fleeting Spring WInd

It was so warm a few weekends ago, that we decided to take Jrew to the park. It was little windy but it was so nice. Here are a few pictures. I really couldn't stop taking pictures of my darling cutie. We are so blessed.

This pic was taken when he was swinging, and I didn't know
he even looked at me until the pic was taken. Sneaky little thing.

Yes. He smiles alot!.

When he does this, I say he's "smokin' his paci".
However, he better not ever let me catch him smoking anything.

Just turn your head and don't complain. :)

This is Classic Jrew. Smiling through the paci.

These are the sweetest moments ever!
I truly believe, Jrew has a heart like his daddy.

Getting so much better at sitting up.
Almost an entire 5 minutes yesterday!
