Ring Around the Roses

Okay.... so this is very silly but for those of you who will allow me, here's a silly story about my recent merry go around with ordering baby bedding. :)

About two and a half weeks ago, we finally agreed on a baby bedding set/theme for Jrew's baby room. However, it is only available online. So, we decided to go for it and I researched (I thought) who would be the cheapest website to order from. Here is the bedding.




So, I found a website that offered the site for $20 cheaper than the other websites and I happily placed my order. After checking my order status over a week's time, I realized the item was not shipped and I proceeded to call customer service. I was told the company didn't actually have the bedding in stock - were not sure when they would get it - and were not sure what day they would have it shipped to me. (not to mention, I had already paid $20 shipping).

After two weeks of waiting, I found a blanket that accompanies that set for $21 on another website. Long story short.. I wrote a summary of my situation into "Special Instructions" and asked that the company send the blanket asap so i could get paint colors picked out soon and begin decorating. I received a personal e-mail that assured me the blanket would arrive on Wednesday or Thursday of next week and that I may want tot consider ordering the bedding from them as well. The customer service rep said it would arrive next week as well.

Okay, the story does gets more complicated and as you all know I could ramble forever. so here's the fastest way to say the rest. :)

* I canceled the first order and placed the bedding order with the new website which cost $20 more but included free shipping.
* I also e-mailed and requested to cancel the $21 blanket since it was just so I could match colors.
* Received personal e-mail again that the blanket order was canceled and bedding would be on the way.
* Told Thomas I canceled the blanket order and replaced a new bedding set order. He was happy and said I didn't need to cancel the blanket.
* I e-mailed my new friend and asked if she could add the blanket back to the larger order so shipping would be free on both items.
* Received personal e-mail today that blanket & bedding set will be here next week. :)
* now that you are sure I am insane... just look at step 1 of getting our baby's room ready! :)

Babies from the perspective of a 5 year old.

Okay, so I volunteered to help my friend pick up her husband's car from the airport a few weeks ago. She asked me to drive the kids home in the "main" car while she went swimming through the parking lot to find the other car. On the way to their house, the five year old and I have a very interesting conversation:

5 year old: My mom is going to be a granny soon.
Me: Why do you say that?
5 year old: B/c she has a little gray hair on her head.
Me: that doesn't make her a granny. She won't be a granny until you and your sisters are big people and have your own kids. and that won't be for a long time.
5 year old: (thinking for a little bit) When I have kids, I am going to take them to the pet store and let them have whatever they want.
Me: What if they ask for something that costs a lot of money?
5 year old: Well I'll just tell them it's too expensive and they'll say "okay mommy" cause I will teached them.
Me: What if they don't say okay mommy and they say "Waaaaa!"
5 year old: Then I'll spank 'em.
Me: Laughing
5 year old: More thinking for a long time.
5 year old: When I have kids, I want them to be born four.
Me: Four?
5 year old: Yes. Four and can walk.
Me: Why?
5 year old: B/c taking care of a baby is HARD!

NOTE: This goes out to Dondie and Mary Beth who just had their first baby girl three days ago!!! In the words of Dondie today, (woken up by our phone call) "It's harder than you think." We know it's all worth it! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BABY GIRL!!!

New York Pics

We got to go to the David Letterman Show!!! It was a whirlwind experience but we had a great time. Here is us posign with Rubert from Hello Delli - a regular segment of David Letterman's show. Surprisingly, he was as genuine in person as he seems on the show.. nice, ordinary guy with ordinary prices for sandwiches even though he is 1) popular and 2) smack in the middle of Time Square.

Below is a pic of a memorial wall dedicated to the firefighters who lost their lives in 9/11. The whole entire area surrounding Ground Zero was very somber. We were grateful to have the experience of seeing it with our own eyes. They are still working on repairing surrounding buildings, a subway stop, and building a memorial where the buildings once stood.

This is my impersonation of the statue of liberty.

We took the Staten Island Ferry to get a view of the statue and just for fun. I didn't quite feel like walking up the entire set of stairs leading to the top of that tall lady.

Blurbs and Pics

So, here are some blurbs and a pic. Blurbs about life.. and a pic of my thankfully still sort of small belly.

Strollers: Okay, so we sort of began to register at a baby story recently. That was certainly quite an experience. We -I arrived (with Thomas) expecting to be in utter bliss as we admired all the beautiful baby things the store had to offer. We signed up for the registry, received our little barcode buster (totally created for the guy's entertainment) and head to the bedding. Oh if it had been as easy as I thought it would be. You see... I do NOT want to do a theme in the baby room like frogs... trucks... bears... etc.. I just want plain and simple colors blended nicely. BUT... the people who make baby bedding clearly favor the characters and girls (Sorry MB). So, what am I to do with this baby boy room. Nevertheless.. we moved on to Stroller systems. 1 1/2 hours later we were exhausted from trying out every stroller/car seat system possible only to find the series we want is offered in purple or pink. So, we left with maybe 5 items on the registry alltogether. SOLUTION: Take girlfriend Hettie Marie with me this Wednesday to straighten out my confused brain.

My belly is now a jump castle: Officially, my tummy has become the bouncy toy that Jrew is enjoying quite a bit. When he is awake, he is wide awake. Thomas and I have now seen him kicking from the outside! It's a bit strange to see my tummy shaking around like jello. Also, Jrew has decided to take many stretch breaks between jumping around... pushing on all sides of my tummy it seems. He is definitely getting bigger in there.

Pics: okay. so now you have read my boring chatter and you have well earned a few pics. First, we will unveil my belly again. This time covered. FYI - I am 25 weeks, AKA 6 months, AKA almost at the end of my second trimester.

Overheard from the classroom

1. I can't wait until the weekend when I don't have to take my medicine. Then the silliness will return. {When I"m off my medicine} it feels like I'm in a kaleidoscope that's on fire!

2. I am buying my mom a new cat for mothers day. Her's died. I went in there and she was stiff as a board.... staring straight at me.

3. {To a guest speaker who grew up in Arabia. "Is there a Waffle House there?" Reply: "No. Next Question" ... "Is there a Huddle House?"

4. Guest speaker said "if you are not married by the time you are 25 there, you are considered an old maid" Student munbles "That's like my babysitter."

5. {About a costume hat} "It's just a little flat. I can... re-fluffify it!"

It's A Boy!

Okay. So, we had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday. My doctor was very insistent that we wait until the end of the 20th week because he "claims" that this ultasound is for medical reasons and not for me to simply find out the sex of the baby. :) I know he's right but in my mind it's all about what I want to know... right?

So... It is a boy. I will post a few pics here for you to see the sweet little buger. MB - Is that how you spell buger? You're the queen of Southern Spelling right?

This pic is the evidence. 100% boy. For those of you who are unaccustomed to seeing ultrasounds, this is a pic of his bottom from bottom up. So... he was proudly displaying his booty to the world.

Here is a pic of him hiding his face. We could not get him to turn his head so we could see his whole face. He loves putting his hands up to his face. We even saw him yawning at one point.

Here is a pic of my tummy. I swear it gets an inch bigger every day. This pic is rare and may possibly the only one of its kind.

So... that's all for now my friends. I just realized today that my mac doesn't allow me to upload pics to blogspot so I had to switch the pics over to my PC.. Annoying... so I will be posting pics of New York soon. Keep looking. :)
